 Reflection

Luckily for me, this class was more than just reading some readings and writing about them.  I had already taken a class that was like that.  I had the opportunity to work with others throughout the semester on projects and also on my own, giving presentations which show what I believe.  Projects are the type of assignments that I always enjoy doing, even if they are last minute and a little stressful, they are fun!  This doesn't meant that every teacher should make all assignments projects, that just gets annoying.  If they have meaning behind them and a purpose to learn, then they are good projects.  For this assignment we, were given the task of making a visual interpretation of what we viewed the American Dream as.  This was great because I am American and along with that usually comes a dream.  The way that I set this up was starting at the beginning of the dream.  The images show what it was like back then.  Following that, it moves forward to show that people think the dream is dead and have almost given up on it.  Then it moves into the part where it shows that it is still alive and changing as time does.  No matter how hard we try, we cannot kill the dream.  It will just come back again.

This course has taught me that there is more to life than just our own life.  There are endless topics, people, cultures, and so on that exist in the world.  It does us no good to put one down because we feel that one is better than the other.  It would be much more beneficial for us to open our minds, heart, and souls to that of others.  We can learn so much about those around us in the world and still never know it all.  We are all extremely different from one another, but that is okay.  That is important in life, to know that different is okay.  An opinion that has not changed for me this semester agrees with the saying, "with freedom comes responsibility."  No matter how free we may be, it never gives us the right to do whatever we want.  If the responsibility cannot be handled, then the freedom is not deserved.  We all have a responsibility in this life, and there is not one specific to everyone.  However, for a person with no idea what to do with their life, a suggestion is to leave this life better than they came into it.  How it is done is up to the individual.  Overall, this course has not changed any of my opinions, I have already decided them before the course, during a different period of my life that did not teach out of a textbook.  Living the experiences leave an individual with a much more strong belief in their opinions afterwords than a few hundred words on a piece of paper.  However, I will continue to remain open in my life, not judgind is one thing that I am best at.
