CIS 1020 - Computer Essentials 

 For this class, I was asked to include some of my grader projects that were completed throughout this course.  I was also asked to fill in the Welcome page, My Goals, General Education requirements, and my Resume.

This grader project was done in the program Excel.  It mainly focused on writing formulas and functions to automatically show data throughout the sheet.  This exercise was beneficial in helping me get accustomed to Excel. 

 This grader project was done in Microsoft Word.  It helped with page formatting and font styles, which I knew how to do to a extent but this helped me go more in depth to what else I can do.

Reflection on CIS 1020 

We started the class out in Excel, which was most beneficial to me.  I was not very familiar with the program because I had not used it very much at all in any of my other courses.  I have learned how to write formulas and functions to help me with and of the things I may have to use Excel for.  Also, I have learned how to use charts and graphs in connection with data.  

Next we went into Word and PowerPoint, which they helped still, but I am much more familiar with them because I have used them for many classes and projects already.  I was definitely able to go deeper in page formatting and all the stuff that you do not really think about changing. Now that I know how to, I will use that knowledge to make PowerPoints cooler and Word documents more smooth and professional.

The other things we have done in class were all of the Technology in Action quizzes and activities.  These have taught me more about the history of computers.  One of the most helpful things I have learned from this was everything inside the computer; how the operating system, software, hardware, and peripherals all work together.  The computers we have today are definitely not a simple piece of technology, at least on the inside and in the background.

This class will help me in the future mostly depending on my degree I end up going into, but still the program parts will help me in any profession situation.  Any business job that I go into will be benefited from the training in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.  I am considering going into computer programming, so all of the stuff concerning OS and protocols will help me get a better start.
